The FPV UK Certificate of Competency: Practical is a practical achievement for members who want to improve their practical know-how and flying skills. It is entirely optional and is done for the member’s own pleasure and sense of achievement – and to improve their confidence.
To achieve the certificate, the member must be able to safely and competently prepare and fly their aircraft through a number of prescribed manoeuvres.
Members can achieve the Certificate of Competency: Practical through their own individual practice, with or without help from a local mentor, followed by an assessment with an FPV UK examiner. Or they can attend a training course with an FPV UK approved training organisation.
There is no charge for the FPV UK Certificate of Competency: Practical examination from FPV UK, although your examiner may charge you for their expenses (e.g. fuel), etc and they will make this clear to you when you first contact them.
Member/ examiner guidance is available here.
