Does FPV UK membership include commercial cover?

FPV UK Drone Membership: Your Questions Answered

Q: Does FPV UK cover me for commercial drone flights?

A: Yes. In addition to £5 million of public liability insurance for non-commercial flying, FPV UK members are also covered by £1 million of commercial public liability insurance.

This allows you to carry out up to £15,000 of commercial drone work per year, either:

  • as a sole trader, invoicing customers in your own name; or
  • through a one-person limited company with one director and one shareholder.

Only income from commercial drone flying counts towards the £15,000 annual limit. Income from other work or business activities is not counted.

Q: Is FPV UK insurance compliant with regulation EC785/2004?

A: Yes. FPV UK membership includes appropriate cover for public liability, terrorism, unlawful seizure, civil commotion, acts of war and hijacking. The insurance complies fully with Regulation EC 785/2004.
