Does a sub-250g camera drone (eg DJI Mini 3) require CAA registration?

Question: Does a sub-250g camera drone (eg DJI Mini) require the operator to be registered with the CAA?

Answer: Yes. If the drone has a recording camera (a ‘sensor capable of capturing personal data’) the operator must be registered with the CAA and the drone must display the Operator ID.

It is a criminal offence to fly a drone without a valid Operator ID.

The current CAA charge for registration is £10 per annum.

You can register, and get your Operator ID, through your FPV UK account at the touch of a button.

Operator IDs have the format GBR-OP-123456789112. The final 12 characters are a randomly generated alphanumerical string of characters.
